IV.            Approval of minutes from last AGM (June 2, 2018): Connie Cooper and Rylee Petkau

V.              PresidentÕs Report: Greg McRitchie

á  Had a difficult personal year so the many workshops envisioned werenÕt accomplished.

á  Thanked board for all their work this year.

á  Lisa McGrath suggested Wildflower Center in Calgary would be a good place to host workshops on Sundays.

á  Connie Cooper and committee is planning a 2020 show for APAÕs 50th Anniversary.

á  We participated in ÒEmpty BowlsÓ again this year marking 10 years of participation. It would be nice to have a bowl making workshop this year as a community building event.

á  Millarville Markets were put on hold for this coming year due to lack of interest, but will be picked up again next year.

á  Louise Brud created a social meeting group named ÒCoffee and CeramicsÓ. We have had approx. 5 events so far with approx. 5-8 people each time. These gatherings are open to all potters to get to know people outside the APA and create a better ceramics community.

á  Greg has been managing Facebook account and has kept page active. Connie Pike is an admin on page but no one currently owns the page. Cara offered to help Greg become owner of FB page.

VI.            TreasurerÕs Report: Genevieve Goodhart

á  The bank balance at the end of March 31st 2019 was $15,379.50

á  Total revenues this fiscal year was $2,510.40

á  Total expenses this fiscal year was $2,906.18

á  Net loss for this year was -$395.78

á  Approved by Darlene and seconded by Rylee Petkau

VII.           Bridgeland Spring Sale

á  Did not go as well as expected.

á  We will need more advertising next year.

VIII.         2020 Show: Connie Cooper

á  2020 show to be held at Ruberto Ostberg Gallery.

á  The Gallery is working on a wine bar.

á  AGM could be held there for the closing day of the exhibition in May.

á  The cost for the gallery is $500 and take 40% of sales. There will be no funds going to the APA.

á  As a committee we decided not to have a travelling show, since we do not have the time available for all the extra steps that would entail.

á  There may be some work for sale and some only for display, although gallery will prefer all work for sale.

á  Because we are a board of volunteers a lot of information has been lost. We need to focus on safe keeping info for future.

á  Possibly approach Glenbow museum with APA history.

á  Some historical info could be included in the show, but not have an involved historical component.

á  TBD: guidelines, logistics, catalogue, call for entry, etc.

IX.            Dawn Candy Workshop

á  Will be held at Connie PikeÕs studio in High River, July 13th from 9am – 4pm.

á  Bring $5 for pizza lunch.

á  We have approx. 11 people signed up at this time.

X.              Workshops

á  Guilds are very closed, so it would be great to bring APA back to life.

á  Hosting a well-known potter would help attract new members to the APA.

á  Greg McRitchie would like to bring in someone famous like John Britt to give a workshop, but it was suggested that it would be unaffordable for the APA at this time.

á  We could piggy-back on some of the potters coming in for workshops in Medalta and other big centers to help save some costs.

á  Lisa McGrath suggested we utilize the Alberta Craft Council newsletter as a resource for reaching a larger audience of potters.

á  Erin Freed has not had much luck getting a response from various guilds around the province for event information.

XI.            Scholarships

á  Distribution of the scholarship was dropped this year.

á  Current board voted last meeting to give AUA (formerly ACAD) $500 per year.

á  Darlene Swan and Connie Pike informed us that last board voted to alternate years between Red Deer College and AUA. *To be discussed by next board*

á  We need to find students (either volunteers or paid positions) to help fill board positions and someone to manage the students and write a grant to cover these costs.

á  Gillian Boon may have a connection at AUA.
